As a Volunteer Facilitator, you will work alongside a diverse team of climate advocates, educators, and changemakers to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to become leaders of a sustainable future. Through school-based programmes, community initiatives, advocacy campaigns, and environmental projects, you will contribute directly to creating positive change in Cameroon and beyond.

About Environmental Education for a Better Earth (EEFABE)

Environmental Education for a Better Earth Cameroon (EEFABE Cameroon) is a youth-led nonprofit organization focused on empowering young people in schools and communities to combat climate change through sustainability, environmental awareness, and climate change education.

EEFABE is accredited by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA), and its subsidiary bodies with observer status, reflecting our commitment to advancing youth participation in global environmental governance and climate action.

Through educational programmes, advocacy initiatives, environmental campaigns, community engagement, leadership development, and practical sustainability projects, EEFABE has empowered young people to transform awareness into action. The organization continues to expand its impact through partnerships and volunteer-led initiatives locally and internationally.

About the SECCE Programme

The Sustainability, Environmental and Climate Change Education (SECCE) Programme is EEFABE’s flagship youth education initiative designed to empower students with practical knowledge and skills in:

• Sustainability Education
• Environmental Education
• Climate Change Education
• Nature-Based Solutions
• Environmental Advocacy
• Sustainable Communities and Neighbourhoods
• Youth Engagement in Environmental Policy
• Green Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The programme combines classroom learning, practical projects, environmental campaigns, leadership development, and community engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities

Volunteer Facilitators will:

• Deliver environmental and climate change education sessions in schools and communities.
• Support the implementation of the SECCE Programme.
• Facilitate workshops, outreach activities, and awareness campaigns.
• Mentor and inspire students to become environmental leaders.
• Support environmental clubs and student-led sustainability projects.
• Participate in tree planting, clean-up campaigns, school gardening, and other nature-based initiatives.
• Contribute articles, reports, and content highlighting project impact.
• Participate in online and offline advocacy campaigns.
• Represent EEFABE during national and international environmental observances where applicable.
• Collaborate with fellow volunteers and partners to develop innovative environmental solutions.

Desired Qualifications

• Minimum a high school diploma (Baccalaureate/GCE A’ Level)
• Strong communication skills in English and/or French.
• Passion for environmental protection and sustainable development.
• Interest in teaching, mentoring, or working with young people.
• Commitment to volunteering and community service.
• Basic digital skills are an advantage.
• Willingness to learn and contribute to EEFABE’s mission.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

No prior experience in climate education is required. Training and guidance will be provided.

Location

This is a flexible volunteer opportunity open to individuals anywhere in Cameroon and around the world.

As part of our approach for the upcoming academic year, Environmental Education for a Better Earth (EEFABE) is expanding opportunities for volunteers to contribute both locally and globally. Volunteers may be assigned to schools and institutions where EEFABE already has established partnerships, allowing them to support ongoing sustainability, environmental, and climate change education programmes.

Volunteers who wish to serve in their own communities, cities, or countries are also encouraged to apply. In such cases, EEFABE will work closely with the volunteer to establish connections with schools, colleges, universities, or community institutions interested in implementing our programmes. Once the necessary partnership arrangements are made, volunteers will be supported and supervised in delivering EEFABE activities within their respective locations.

Whether you are based in Douala, another region of Cameroon, or anywhere else in the world, you can be part of the EEFABE movement and help empower young people through sustainability, environmental, and climate change education. Our global network allows volunteers to contribute meaningfully while creating impact within their own communities.

Time Commitment

Approximately 8-15 hours per month, depending on project activities and volunteer availability.
